How to Make an Electric Motor Produce Electricity

Posted By 2014 July 03rd Thursday

Any electric motor which has permanent magnets can be made to produce electricity in the same way that an ordinary generator produces electricity. Spinning the shaft of a motor causes the coils within the motor to spin past the motor's magnets. This induces an electrical current.

Instructions

1、Attach a pulley onto the shaft of the electric motor.

2、Mount the electric motor firmly to a platform.

3、Mount a gasoline engine to the same platform and attach a pulley to the shaft of the gasoline engine. Mount the engine and the electrical motor in such a way that a fan belt can connect the two.

4、Run the gasoline engine and allow the fan belt to spin the shaft of the electrical motor. A direct current will now be flowing out of the wires which were originally designed to supply the motor with electricity. The current coming out of the motor will be DC (direct) current.

5、Connect the wires from the motor to a power inverter in order to change the DC current to AC (alternating current).
