Key point for coil winding machine design and R&D

In the initial stage of the development of automatic coil winding machine, it’s mechanical structure has little difference from common coil winding machine, just some changes on the wire displacement mechanism, wire passing wheel, tensioner and operation aspects.

With the development of NC technology, considering the characteristics of its control method and use feature, we have put forward higher requirements of productivity, machining accuracy and service life for the automatic coil winding machine. The main mechanism characteristics of coil winding machine is greatly simplified the mechanical transmission structure through high performance of stepless speed change main spindle and stepping driving system, and the transmission mechanism is greatly shortened. In order to adapt to the continuous automatic processing and improve process productivity, the mechanical structure of coil winding machine should have high static and dynamic stiffness and damping precision, also high wear resistance, in order to reduce friction, eliminate the transmission gap and get higher winding accuracy. More efficient transmission components are used, such as lead screw pair and rolling guide, gap eliminating gear transmission pair, in order to improve working conditions, reduce auxiliary time, improve the operability, improve labor productivity, the fast mandril loading and unloading, mandrel, pneumatic thimble and other auxiliary devices are used. The manufacturer should consider the main point of coil winding machine with high machine body static and dynamic stiffness automatically wind the coils according to numerical control programming or manual parameters input way, when going to design and develop a type of coil winding machine.

Because the positioning error generated from deformation geometric precision of mechanical structure can not be adjusted and compensated artificially during machining process, therefore all mechanical parts elastic deformation must be kept to a minimum limit, in order to ensure the required accuracy. In recent years, steel welded structure body, column, beam and working plate are used on the coil winding machine. The sealing sand casting is also conducive to the vibration attenuation, has good effect on improving the vibration resistance. Reducing the movement friction and transmission gap eliminating coil winding displacement mechanism is to guarantee the equipment precision, also can be capable with extremely high speed movement.

In order to make the coil displacement shaft accurately respond to numerical control device’s instructions, we must take corresponding measures. At present, the commonly used sliding rail, rolling guide and hydrostatic guideway have obvious differences on the friction damping characteristics. In the feeding system replace sliding screw with ballscrew can also receive the same effect. At present, almost all the coil winding machines adopt the ball screw drive. In order to improve the service life and precision retaining ability of the coil winding machine we should fully consider the wear resistance of components, especially the wear resistance of main parts such as motor, stepper, main spindle components etc., which will affect the accuracy.

Each components must be lubricated well in the process of using. Reducing the auxiliary time and improving operational performance to further improve equipment productivity, we must take steps to compress the auxiliary time farthest. Currently many coil winding machines adopt multi main spindle, multi rows wire holder, in order to increase the winding efficiency.
